There Is No Such Thing as “Too Creative” for Senior Portraits

Some High School Grads want a clean studio portrait.

Some want a downtown look.

Others want a field, a barn, boots, flowers, sunshine, and a little bit of country charm.

And then some HS Grads look me straight in the eye and say, “Can you make me look like I’m in a Star Wars scene?”

My answer?

Yes.

Absolutely.

Let’s go.

That is the fun part of senior portraits today. Your session does not have to look like everyone else’s. It does not have to be ordinary. It does not have to fit inside a tiny little box labeled “normal.”

This is your senior year.

Let’s make it look like YOU.

If You Can Imagine It, We Can Create It

The photo above is a perfect example.

This senior wanted an open field with a rustic barn. Something soft. Something natural. And something with that warm, Southern, outdoor feeling.

So that is what we created.

A beautiful dress.

A wide-open field.

A barn in the background.

A senior portrait that feels personal, relaxed, and full of personality.

But the bigger point is this: there is almost nothing you can ask for that we cannot figure out.

If you want a certain look, we will research it.

If you want a special location, we will look for it.

Or if you want something creative, dramatic, funny, elegant, sporty, cinematic, country, glamorous, or completely over the top, we will talk through it and make a plan.

Your imagination is not a problem.

It is the starting point.

Want a Bass Boat? Let’s Talk.

Want to be photographed catching a wide mouth bass from a $200,000 bass boat?

That can happen.

Want a dramatic sports portrait with lights, smoke, attitude, and energy?

We can do that.

Want a classic Southern field with boots and wildflowers?

Yes.

Want something that looks like a movie poster?

Now you’re speaking my language.

Over the years, I have had HS Grads ask for all kinds of ideas.

One senior wanted to be placed inside a high-rise office in New York, surrounded by award-winning basketballs.

We did it.

Another wanted to be placed into a Star Wars-style scene.

We did that too.

And honestly, those sessions are some of the most fun.

Because the best portraits are not just about what you look like.

They are about who you are.

Your Senior Portraits Should Tell Your Story

Senior portraits should never feel like a school ID photo with better lighting.

This is a once-in-a-lifetime season.

You are finishing one chapter and stepping into the next. That deserves more than a quick smile and a boring background.

Maybe your story is sports.

Maybe it is music.

Or, maybe it is hunting, fishing, dance, art, fashion, cars, horses, books, gaming, or just a vibe nobody else understands.

That is okay.

Actually, that is perfect.

The more personal the idea, the better the portrait.

Bring Me the Wild Idea

Here is what I want every senior to know.

Do not be afraid to ask.

Seriously.

Do not think, “That’s probably too much.”

Do not think, “He probably can’t do that.”

And do not think, “That idea is too weird.”

I have been a professional photographer for over 40 years. I have photographed just about everything you can imagine, and a few things nobody should have imagined before coffee.

So bring me the idea.

Bring me the Pinterest board.

Bring me the screenshot.

And bring me the “I know this sounds silly, but…” sentence.

Those are usually the best ones.

We’ll Help You Figure It Out

You do not have to know exactly how to make it happen.

That is my job.

You just have to tell me what you are dreaming about.

From there, we can talk through the location, clothing, lighting, props, timing, background, and overall feel of the image.

Sometimes we photograph it exactly as planned.

Sometimes we build the final look piece by piece.

Either way, the goal is the same: create senior portraits that feel original, personal, and unforgettable.

Let’s Make Something Nobody Else Has

If you want simple, beautiful portraits, we can do that.

If you want something dramatic, we can do that too.

And if you want to stand in a field by a barn, we will find the field.

If you want to look like you just won the championship, landed the dream job, caught the biggest fish in Louisiana, or stepped into a movie scene, let’s make it happen.

Nothing is too creative.

Nothing is too personal.

And nothing is too “out there” to at least talk about.

Your senior portraits should look like you, not like everyone else.

So dream big.

Ask the question.

Bring the wild idea.

I’m ready.
